What started as shared camp coffees and suppers at a remote northern mine slowly grew into a friendship that neither of them expected and a connection they couldn’t ignore.

Tyler was born and raised in Melfort, Saskatchewan, and Jane was born in Dryden, Ontario, but raised in the breathtaking mountains of Jasper, Alberta. Their paths crossed in 2021 at the Diavik Diamond Mine, where they spent years working together in the Arctic. Over time, their bond grew stronger as they navigated shift work, distance, and new job opportunities.

Even while working at different sites, they planned their time off together, booking cozy Airbnbs, exploring the outdoors, and bouncing between their families in Edmonton and Saskatchewan. In 2023, they planted roots and bought their first home in Parkland County. In a beautiful, semi–full-circle moment, 2024 brought them both back to the Arctic, where they now work at the same mine together once again.

Tyler proposed during a quiet camping trip to Yaha Tinda, after a long trail ride through the mountains. At the base of Big Horn Falls, surrounded by nature and their horses, he asked, and Jane said yes.
